(ESPN & Sporting News) The Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to a six-year deal with Paul Posluszny, the linebacker’s agent Mike McCartney told ESPNNewYork.com’s Mike Mazzeo.

Posluszny, a 2007 second-round draft pick out of Penn State, completed his four-year contract in 2010 with the Buffalo Bills. He will turn 27 in October.

Posluszny labored with the decision, a source said, because he wanted to stay with the Bills. He decided on the Jaguars because of the chance to play middle linebacker in a 4-3 defense. The Bills have switched to a 3-4.

After missing much of his rookie season with a broken arm, he was a three-year starter at linebacker for Buffalo.

He led the Bills with 151 tackles last season.

Meantime, reports are the Bills have landed a much-needed backup for starting QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports Dolphins free agent Tyler Thigpen has agreed to terms on a three-year contract with Buffalo.

The move puts Thigpen in a very familiar system under Bills coach Chan Gailey. Thigpen found success as an NFL QB as the primary starter for the Kansas City Chiefs when Gailey was their offensive coordinator in 2008.
