The Jacksonville Jaguars ease into the 2011 NFL schedule as they open the season at home against the Tennessee Titans in week one. From there, the difficulty ramps up quickly as the Jags travel to New York to face the Jets in week two. The early season schedule is alternates between easy and difficult as Jacksonville travels to Carolina for a week three date with the Panthers before hitting the meat of its schedule.
The tough stretch of the Jaguars schedule comes before their week nine bye. On Oct. 2, it begins as the Jags host the New Orleans Saints. The Cincinnati Bengals provide somewhat of a break the next week before a stretch that sees Jacksonville hit the road against the Steelers before hosting the Baltimore Ravens on Oct. 24. Two tough, physical matchups back-to-back will surely leave the Jags battered and bruised with a bye in sight.

The Indianapolis Colts finished the 2010 regular season with a 10-6 record. They were hampered by age, injuries, and a defense that was not up to snuff. They also lost to the Houston Texans and the Jacksonville Jaguars so we may be seeing a shift in power in the AFC South. They also lost a home playoff game, and that of course leads us back to the Peyton cannot win the big game thoughts. Personally I thought they were a lot better than this, but hey that is why the actually play the games.
The offense scored 435 points or 27.2 points per game and that was the 4th best number of the 32 NFL teams. Peyton runs this offense, and he completed 66.3% of his passes for 4,700 yards, 33 TD’s and 17 INT’s. All in all pretty good numbers. Peyton was sacked 16 times, and the running game behind averaged 92.7 rushing yards per game. So there could be issues on the O Line, but all in all the offense is not what concerns me about this team.
The defense on the other hand gave up 388 points, or 24.2 points per game on average. In terms of team defense they ranked mostly in the bottom half of the key team defensive stats. Their take away differential was -4 and that is not good since this offense doesn’t exactly give up the ball all that much. They did force just 12 fumbles and pick off just 10 passes. Those numbers are way to low.
Cleary this team has issues on the defense, and I think that is where they should start to improve, but the running game is not what it needs to be even with Peyton back there calling the shots. They may be seeing their championship window closing, as Peyton and the core of this team are hardly spring chickens.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Houston Texans Live Stream on CBS - The Jacksonville Jaguars were already in a tough spot in regards to making the playoffs heading into the final week of the regular season, but the anticipated absences of the team’s two offensive catalysts figures to make the task an even more arduous one.
Live from Reliant Stadium (Houston, Texas), the Jacksonville Jaguars vs Houston Texans matchup will start at exactly 4:15 pm ET, Sunday, January 2, 2011.
Apparently, Jacksonville won’t have starting quarterback David Garrard under center for Sunday’s AFC South clash with the Houston Texans from Reliant Stadium, while star running back Maurice-Jones Drew seems destined to sit out as well due to a painful knee injury that will likely require surgery.
Jacksonville (8-7) remains in the postseason hunt thanks in part to Garrard’s improbable touchdown throw versus Houston on Nov. 14. The Texans’ Glover Quin batted down the long pass but hit it into the chest of Thomas, who caught the ball at the 1-yard line before stepping into the end zone.
While Garrard’s throw in the first meeting with Houston gave Jacksonville the victory, his interception in the extra period against the Redskins helped set up the winning 31-yard field goal. Washington came in with four straight losses.
On the other hand, the Texans come into Sunday’s matchup with plenty of problems of their own. Houston has dropped its last four contests and lost eight times in a nine-game span following a promising 4-2 start to the season, with the collapse raising questions about head coach Gary Kubiak’s future with the organization.
Houston gave up 24 points in the second half of last week’s game at lowly Denver, enabling the Broncos to erase a 17-0 deficit at intermission and rally for a 24-23 win.
While the Texans have been tough against the run, they own the league’s worst pass defense with 277.1 yards allowed per game. Trent Edwards will likely draw the assignment of trying to exploit it.
The veteran went 14 of 24 for 140 yards and two interceptions when Garrard left a 30-3 loss to Tennessee on Oct. 18 with a concussion. Edwards made two starts this season with Buffalo.
