POSTED: Thursday, August 25, 2011

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars have waived receiver Tiquan Underwood, safety Michael Hamlin and three others.Linebacker Slade Norris, place-kicker Sam Swank and punter Brent Bowden also were waived, leaving the Jaguars with 85 players. Teams have to reduce their rosters to 80 by Tuesday.Jacksonville had seen enough from Underwood, Hamlin and the others – deciding to waive them before Saturday’s game at Buffalo.Underwood, a seventh-round draft pick in 2009, caught eight passes for 111 yards last season. But he fell to the bottom of the depth chart in training camp and dropped a pass from Blaine Gabbert against Atlanta last Friday.Hamlin had been working with the second-team defense, but recently got passed by rookies Chris Prosinski, Rod Issac and Matt Estrada.

Jaguars sign veteran OL Tony Moll, adding depth…

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed free agent offensive lineman Tony Moll, adding depth after injuries to starting right tackle Eben Britton and backup guard Kevin Haslam.

Moll, a fifth-round draft pick by Green Bay in 2006, spent the last two seasons in Baltimore. Moll has played in 60 games, starting 21 of them at guard, tackle and tight end. He worked out for Detroit before signing with Jacksonville.

The Jaguars expect the 6-foot-5, 315-pounder to play in Thursday’s preseason opener at New England.

Moll, who played alongside current Jaguars Aaron Kampman and Jason Spitz in Green Bay, will help Jacksonville replace Haslam. He injured his left knee Saturday and is on injured reserve. Britton has missed the last few days of training camp with a back injury.
